About IPBC

IAM is pleased to be hosting IPBC Asia 2016 from December 4 to 6 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Shanghai, Pudong. Returning to Shanghai, China’s commercial powerhouse, IPBC Asia 2016 is set to be the most dynamic yet – leveraging IAM’s extensive relationships with the Chinese IP community and the phenomenal success of previous IPBC Asia events to ensure unparalleled attendance from corporate IP leaders in China, the region and across the globe. Click here for IPBC Asia 2016

Since it was launched in Amsterdam in 2008, IPBC has established itself as the world’s principal forum for senior thought leaders who specialise in the business of intellectual property, giving them a forum to come together and discuss cutting-edge issues around IP value creation. With intellectual property continuing to move further up the corporate, investment and policy agendas, this focus is more relevant than ever before.

Previous IPBC Global events in Amsterdam (2008), Chicago (2009), Munich (2010), San Francisco (2011), Cascais (2012), Boston (2013) and Amsterdam (2014), as well as IPBC China in Beijing (2012), IPBC Asia in Singapore (2013) and Shanghai (2014), and IPBC Japan in Tokyo (2014), have clearly demonstrated that the event is unique in the IP calendar as a conference which brings together delegates from operating companies, non-practising entities, IP aggregators, finance, investment, policy and the law.

The opportunities that the IPBC format affords for the exchange of views and experiences – both in formal sessions and during breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks – are unparalleled, and are the reason why IPBC events attract such high-level attendees and speakers.

People attend IPBC events because they are unique in four key ways:

  • They focus solely on intellectual property as a business asset and how best it can be managed to extract maximum value.
  • Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) is exceptionally placed to assemble an outstanding set of speakers and delegates who bring experience, knowledge and insight to the issues that truly matter to senior IP decision makers.
  • Limited delegate numbers, strictly enforced occupation quotas and carefully designed sessions mean that the events uniquely combine world-class IP business expertise with outstanding networking opportunities in an intimate and informal atmosphere.
  • The IPBC format works because it brings together the most senior representatives from across the IP industry not just to discuss IP business, but also to do deals.

Delegate profile

IPBC Asia is focused on two key groups: chief IP officers, heads of intellectual property and their equivalents at major enterprises; and leading IP investors, aggregators, intermediaries and international regulators.

To guarantee this focus we employ sector quotas for:

  • Private practice lawyers
  • Patent and trademark attorneys
  • Other service providers

Once we hit a quota limit, we are unable to offer a place at IPBC Asia to those from the relevant sector looking to register for the event. This ensures the optimal overall delegate profile for the event.

Host

IAM is universally acknowledged as the world’s leading IP business information provider. IAM was launched in July 2003 to address the need for organisations to maximise the value of their intellectual property and other intangibles, and to examine the strategies that they can put in place to do this. IAM is unique because it treats intellectual property as a business asset and tool, rather than simply as a legal right. With this unequalled appeal to the boardroom, IAM has firmly established itself as the only IP publication that many senior corporate executives read regularly.

Using our world-class corporate, financial, intermediary and legal contacts, we are again assembling a world-class faculty of speakers for IPBC Asia 2015. This will comprise individuals in charge of intellectual property at some of the world’s most forward-thinking companies – both large and small, domestic and international – as well as global IP thought leaders, intermediaries and senior members of the IP finance and investment communities.

Their unique insights and experiences will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the principles that underpin the development of IP value creation strategies, as well as the many challenges – actual and future – that IP-owning companies face.
