The IP Business Congress 2010

The third IP Business Congress (IPBC) is taking place at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich, Germany, between 20th and 22nd June 2010. Building on the success of the previous IPBCs in Amsterdam (2008) and Chicago (2009), the IPBC 2010 will once again bring together thought leaders from the worlds of IP business and finance to discuss issues that centre on the creation and management of IP value. At a time when a growing number of corporations understand that intellectual property is a crucial asset, the IPBC has established itself as the world's pre-eminent business-related IP conference.

New features

To ensure that the IPBC remains on the cutting edge of the IP value creation process, we have introduced a number of new features to the 2010 programme. These include the following:

  • For the first time we will be dedicating a plenary session specifically to the IP needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, so crucial to the global economy and to the future of innovation.
  • Another first is the "Meet the decision makers" plenary – a chance to hear what elected politicians from a variety of parties and countries have to say about IP policy, as well as to question them about their priorities.
  • The CIPO clinic will give delegates a unique opportunity to get advice from some of the world's leading chief intellectual property officers on how they deal with the challenge of making IP a corporate profit centre.

A variety of breakouts dealing with all aspects of the creation and management of IP value will also ensure that delegates come away from Munich armed with the latest thinking, as well as the practical know-how that will enable them to put theory into practice.

Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine is acknowledged as the world's leading IP business magazine. Using our world-class corporate, financial, intermediary and legal contacts, a faculty of speakers is being assembled for the IPBC 2010 that will comprise individuals in charge of IP at some of the world's most forward-thinking companies, both large and small, global IP thought leaders and senior policy makers from North America, Europe and Asia.

Their unique insights and experiences, presented in both our plenary and breakout sessions, will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the principles that lie behind the development of IP value creation strategies, as well as the many challenges – actual and future – that IP-owning companies face.

People attend the IPBC because it is unique in three important ways:

  • Its focus is solely on IP as a business asset and how best it can be managed to extract maximum value.
  • IAM magazine is exceptionally placed to assemble an outstanding set of speakers and delegates who will bring experience, knowledge and insight to the issues that truly matter to IP-owning businesses and the people who manage corporate IP portfolios.
  • Strictly limited delegate numbers mean that the event uniquely combines world-class IP business expertise with outstanding networking opportunities in an intimate and informal atmosphere.

If you want to join the world's leading IP business thought leaders for three days of high-level debate that focuses on corporate IP value creation, then you cannot afford to miss the IPBC 2010. We look forward to seeing you in Munich.

IP Hall of Fame

The IP Hall of Fame honours those who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of intellectual property law and practice. Devised and developed by IAM magazine, it identifies individuals who have helped to establish intellectual property as one of the key business assets of the 21st century. The aim is not only to acknowledge the vital role played by these innovators in fostering today's vibrant IP environment and ensuring its continued health, but also to show how central IP is to the global economy and to the wellbeing of people around the world.

The IP Hall of Fame welcomes new inductees on an annual basis. Via the nomination process, anyone in the global IP community can put forward a name to be considered by the IP Hall of Fame Academy, comprising all living IP Hall of Fame inductees and specially invited international IP thought leaders. A full list of Academy members can be found at www.iphalloffame.com.

On 21st June 2010, at a gala dinner to be held in Munich, the latest individuals chosen for induction by the IP Hall of Fame Academy will be honoured by past inductees, members of the Academy, IPBC delegates and invited guests.

Summary – IPBC 2008 & 2009
